"Sometimes you just have to run for no reason at all" - Toni McAlister
Well, that's pretty much it. I didn't have a plan other than please let me have at least five. I ran with random thoughts not trying to, its just what was going on in my head as I ran, I was able to count how many times I went around the track. Later, I paced with the coach from Foothills Running Club but that was towards the end. But with no plan in hand I just had to run something and I did.
I would also like to say...I'm glad (when it comes to running) that August is OVER!! I have had so many odd challenges and for days at a time even a whole week I didn't set foot out there to run. I've even been all dressed ready to go and didn't get across the other side of the door, or better yet, get all the way out there and walk/jog it is so discouraging! So much so, where I blew off a couple days just to figure out what the heck happened??? I got injured...today's run was nice, the weather was good motivation and I look forward to seeing more of Autumn :-)

"If you set a goal for yourself and are able to achieve it, you have won your race. Your goal can be to come in first, to improve your performance, or just finish the race. It's up to you." - Dave Scott, triathlete
My goal for tomorrow is to just get out there.
I was really beating myself up bad because the entire month of August felt like I was blowing running off. I realized tonight I wasn't. I don't have a set schedule because I don't have a set routine. Everyday is different, school, volleyball, xcountry, dance, church, horses then running. I'm not used to all this and running gets put in slots of the day that may or may not happen. I'm still in the juggling mode not everyday is the same. For example about running on Mon., & Wen. and starting Sat. running early in the morning isn't going to be happening, I need to find a different time. Fri. I can do it either way in the evening or morning and on Tue. and Thur. I can do it in the morning. I may take Sun. off as a day of rest and make it Monday or something?
All running goals are put on hold and I'm just trying to get out there. Anyways, it was reassuring to me that I still like running and I'm not blowing it off...whew...my fear was popping up again about being a quitter.

Ps. I went to the Dr. one year ago and they weighed me in at 226 lbs. I was being weighed prior to a surgery I was going in for. I needed a Vetro Nerve Stimulator to help control seizures. Since then and partially due to surgery I've lost 31 lbs and have been able to maintain it!! When I started running in January I weighed in at 215 lbs. So, its been almost nine months since I've been running I'm smaller, I went from a size 20-18 (almost 16) and really shrunk in my face, chest and waiste but my weight is still heavy. Common sence says, "the lighter you are the faster you'll run!" Trying to get lighter....not easy.

“For every minute spent in organizing, an hour is earned.” - Unknown
So here's the deal, alot of wonderful things are happening in my life all at the same time and because of who I am as a person, my mind is "scatter brained." I'm not the multitasker. When I do that, nothing is done well. However, if I'm given a task or project where the majority my attention is given....lets just say, I have impressed very (what the world would define) "Successful" people. Hahaha....I have amazing stories :-) If you only knew...
Anyways, I home school my daughters. I am blessed because I get to do so. I am not used to as much activity that all goes with that up until this year.
For example, we prayed (my friends and family) for both of my daughters to play in their sports. Meghan had to make the team (over 20 girls didn't, she was the last person on the list-total God thing) and Kailah had an injury that we just needed God to take care of, what the Dr. said would a couple months (wrote a letter to sit out the season) God did in a few weeks! So, in both situations He gave us the desire of our hearts. In addition to being on a team comes, practices, games and the team events. I love it, it makes me happy. Literally every single day is packed with one or the other.
Well, in addition, the girls joined Ballroom Dancing and they have three formals a year, there is more than it seems when it comes that like volunteering etc.
And as of yesterday, Kailah is going to volunteer once a week at some horse stables to put on her college apps. If you begin to just add up the travel time with all this, huge chunks come out of our day just in travel. So basically when all that is going on, having a regular school schedule is not going on.
This is why its important to get my runs in before the day begins. After yesterdays run, I came home totally unraveled, had to take a moment and think. I decided not to run for today. I had this awful feeling like I was forgetting something and I need to figure out what that was. I had to shut off everything around me, stare at my two calenders that I live by and pray.
Have you ever woken up in the morning, like you are startled and suddenly realize (sitting up in bed) what you forgot? That is how I woke up this morning. I had forgot to get Meghan scheduled for a ride to be at a meet and hour and a half away! Fortunately, it was not early in the morning like xcountry so after I calmed down a bit I made a call and its taken care of. Extremely last minute, but at least its taken care of...whew... But thats not ok. with me.
Oh and lets also not forget I am a "home-maker" and lets just say my home needs some tlc :-/
I'm taking all of today and getting organized because I do not like coming home to a messy house, being unraveled, thinking I'm forgetting something in the back of my head, being scatterbrained and waking up startled.
Today is going to be a productive day!!!

Ok, so today I did 3.1 miles because I wanted to time myself and see where I am at, I'm somewhat disappointed. I came in at 36:52. I settled within myself that I did the best I could. I run approxametly 12 minute miles. I've been pretty consistent at maintaining that but I really desire to be much faster than that. I would really like to run on a regular basis a 10 minute mile. After I ran that I went up to the foam track and did two loops of sprints. I'm doing the best I know how to do.

Wow. Today was totally unexpected. I thought well, Saturday will be easy I'm on the beginner team that only does 3.1 miles it will be a good finish to my week. WRONG!! Today hurt so bad. It was extremely discouraging at first. I was way behind them and felt so slow, I was sad. There were alot of hills, we didn't run at the Boling Park. Then, they decided to do sprints on a sponge track and I beat them two times? After that we finished off a couple miles at Boling Park. So, I don't know that I'll ever understand why I run the way I do (behind everyone but then beat them sprinting?) all I know is it kicked my butt...its very sore! It was like hill+sprint+distance day. This is how much my body exerted itself...in the morning I weighed 195lbs after came home and crashed I thought it may be interesting to see if anything changed in my weight, It dropped to 193lbs I lost two pounds after today's run.....I wasn't sad anymore.

Today's run was interesting but over all good. I had to run 2x to the port-a-potty....have no clue why but wasn't gonna bash myself for it. The rest of my run was defiantly working out stuff in my mind. You are only stressed if you want to be stressed so I ran :-) It felt good, I had peace. I felt like I was going fast but I don't think I was. It took me about an hour and a half to do six miles but that is not including the potty breaks. So, I settled with the thought that before I left Boling Park today I was not stressed anymore.
Today Meghan had her first game in Volleyball, it was awesome! All three teams won, Juniors, JV & Varsity. Meghan played the whole first game and the Volleyball Knights won 25 to 6!! She did great! We are so very, very proud of her!! Way to go Meghan!!

First things First! Today was Kailah's Birthday, seventeen years old....I'm still trying to get used to sixteen! Seventeen? Geeezzzz....Well, she is a wonderful daughter, does not give me grief and is a blessing from the Lord! She also ran her first speed mile since the injury and got 8:32! We are very happy about that!! She got a new running outfit from her Grandparents in Tennessee and it says, "Yes, I run like a girl, try to keep up!" I love it!! She loved it!! So, thought I'd share it with you all :-)
As for me, myself and I...today my level of pain went from a 9 to a 2 but after my nap today its practically non existent!! Hallelujha!! So, if all goes well....guess where I'll be? Skipping Palates that's for sure!!

For crying out loud! Forrest Gump did NOT say,
"I think I'm finished now". He said, "I'm pretty tired. I think I'll go home now."
He also said, "...wherever I was going, I WAS RUN-NING!" and,
"Those look like comf-tuble shoes. Momma always said you could tell alot 'bout a person by they shoes. Where they going. Where they been. I've worn lotsa shoes",and
"I GOTTA FIND BUBBA!"
~ Unknown Comments ~
That movie always makes me laugh (except the end then I cry).
Ok. get this....yesterday I didn't mention this cuz I thought it was insignificant. I stood on that ab thing where you hang and do leg lifts. I did 10 and rested after 3 lifts soooo, no big deal or anything to write about? I woke up this morning at 2pm. A LOT of PAIN!! I didn't know what it was so I just laid there trying to relax. I finally got out of bed and could not stand up straight it felt like I ripped a muscle that went from my chest alllllll the way down below your stomach like a line. So, I started stretching a bit and I thought, I'll just make some coffee, it will help me clean out my system and I'll be fine. So, (bending over) I did. I thought well, I'll sit at the computer and type and stuff but when I got up....omg intense cramping everywhere it felt like contractions, I fell back into the seat and when I did it started more, in the lower area. I made myself get up and walk....I thought that's nice. I get to walk at Boling...gggrrrr...
Meghan saw me and was like mom, you should not go, you will injure yourself more. So I went out and thought...maybe if I start running (in the house) it will go away....It like went into spasms. One thing that makes me really angry is Meghan (once again) came down in her running clothes that she slept in. Then went back to bed, cuz of me..... :-(
I researched the problem online md. and basically I have a strained/pulled stomach muscle. Cure - ice, ibuprofen, rest. I actually need to rest till the majority of the pain leaves may take a few days, (hopefully) When I eat it hurts I feel nauseous. It does help when I walk around and push my stomach in.
ugh.

"Putting miles in your training log is like putting money in the bank. You begin to draw interest on it immediately." - Hal Higdon
Very True! I do go back and reread past blogs and most the times am encouraged :-)
Meghan and I went to Boling after practice. There is a schedule conflict of where Kailah practices anyways Meghan slept in her running clothes so she wouldn't be late (thats Meghan) We did one mile, it was bright and hot and so we popped over to the gym and ran there. Now, this doesn't seem like alot but it was actually challenging to me. I only ran for a 1/2 hour but I was running uphills like doing hill work it was really hard I was dripping with sweat so, this maybe considered a hill work out. But still, there is nothing like running 5 miles at Boling to make you feel accomplished. But I tell ya one thing, I was exhausted cuz I really pushed it, when I got off the treadmill, I got alittle dizzy. So, it actually made me feel better cuz the time I was on it was discouraging but when my body gets like that I know I did the best I could do with what I got and so I'm happy about that.

"Lean with your heals not with your hips and it will be your legs trying to catch up with you." - Riley Jubal (Sports Therapist)
I'm glad today was a xtraining day. My whole family ran today! Yeah! But it took forever to get out the door! Three dogs don't help. We finally made it but I was only able to do a few miles (had peace knowing there was more to this day then these three miles). I did get to work on the technique of what the therapist told me, "Lean with your heals not with your hips and it will be your legs trying to catch up with you." It does feel different. I'm gonna try that for awhile and see what happens. He said when you lean like that you don't damage your hips as bad because when you run otherwise its putting pounds of weight with every step on your hips. Can you tell I was picking his brain :-)
I went to palates class today and I didn't do good. I could barely do the "easy" ones. I was trying to encourage myself the whole time. It was as if I never did it before and then worse than that! There were times I just laid back and stretched.....I have no further thoughts on that.
Today was a good day because Kailah was out there and so our whole family ran together and it just felt right.

"The more I run, the more I want to run, and the more I live a life conditioned and influenced and fashioned by my running. And the more I run, the more certain I am that I am heading for my real goal: to become the person I am." - George Sheehan
I love running, I do. Today I didn't get to run. But thats ok. I was up till almost 5am. with cramping pain in my legs. I did everything I knew to try and stop it. So, I missed my morning run. Then in the evening we had last minute company, therefore I missed my evening run. I had a moment of panick thinking "what can I do to get my run?" Then was reminded what I did on Monday and Tuesday and relaxed mentally because my legs needed to relax physically. So! looking forward to tomorrow, going to be now so I can be ready for tomorrow! :-)

"Put one foot in front of the other and soon you'll be walking across the floor, Put one foot in front of the other and soon you'll be walking out the door, You'll never get where you're going if you never get up on your feet, " - Santa Claus is Comming to Town
haha I started hearing this tune around mile number five, it helped but I couldn't get it out of my head!! So, I thought I'd post it ~ amazing the goofiness that pops in your head while you run :-P Or, maybe God helping you put one foot in front of the other :-)
Great News though!! Kailah has been released to run on the team!! Yeah! The Dr.s are really impressed and I love what the Therapist had to say..."Well, I guess I can rip up that letter of sitting out the season!" Jesus is King! Thank You Lord and bless everyone who prayed this day would come :-)

Well, this morning I was a gazelle who out ran a lion but this afternoon I was eaten by him. All in all it was good :-)

"It starts about the time I walk out my front door. I reach the woods, smell the river and I just feel myself come to life again. It’s like yeah, I’m back." - Marathonsweetheart Blog
...aahhh just thinking about that makes me want to sleep so I can get up and go back to where I belong...
This whole week has been crazy! Some good some not so good and then there are those days where you just pray.
In the meantime I've not run but I've dropped a couple pounds....so that's good so when I run tomorrow I should feel lighter, right?
Rest Day.....which sounds silly cuz its been more of a rest week?

"Why Do You Run?
Because you're wondering if your grandchildren will too. Because its raining. Because you can, and others can't. Because its faster than walking. Because that shaky-leg-thing is all about nervous energy. Because you can't fly. Because you can fly. Because your personal best is just that, yours. Because the pain of a blister is nothing compared to the pain of stopping. Because you like the resistance the wind gives you. Because you like the resistance you give the wind. Just Because." - NYC Marathon Ad
This pushed me to try again :-) When I get discouraged about not being able to run or not running the way I want... I read quotes. Obviously I read them everyday! But especially on those "I'm a bad runner" days.
I was happy to run today, I set out my best running clothes, got up an around then left. On my way to Boling I had a STRONG urge to go to the gas station and get a cappuccino. I've never done that, and I was like, "NO! I'd be spending my time at the port-a-potty and I will not do that!" But it was insistent so I went. When I came back out a man pointed out my tire was flat...nice. Well, in dealing with that and all that entails, time was passing and it got hot, with the sun beating down on my back, I was very irritated and went home. I started asking God in aggravation, "I hate this, why?" He actually gave me peace about it. I was reminded of how many times I go to the gas station (never) because I don't want to be late to Boling and on the way home I'm too tired. Then I started thinking what if on the highway this happened? Ok. God obviously knew what He was doing. I was bummed but not upset about it.
So, I come home and start ready quotes....I read them for over an hour....I ran across this one and it really moved me. I asked God could you make it rain or cloudy cuz I want to go but I wont if the sun is beating down. The only fruit of my running like that is being drained and getting a headache. So, then I thought hmmm...if I fix Meghan some coffee maybe she'll be alert and come with me (conniving.) It worked :-)
We got there and it was cloudy ~ Thank You Lord ~ It was a stinky run but it was a neat run :-) There were people there setting up for a Rodeo so there were horses, cows, calf's and all kinds of neat stuff to look at. And I don't know if it was butterfly season but in the back they were flying all around us. Meghan was able to do two miles with me, she was very happy :-D But she really wanted to leave after that so I only got in three. Because of the event of the day and knowing my daughter pushed herself, I walked away with peace. Not happy but not bummed out.

"Rule 2.32 Do whatever it takes to finish ahead of a costumed runner, because being Outkicked by Elmo is too much to bear!" - Mark Remy
:-) haha :-) I thought about this quote as I bought my pink "Super Women" hat to match my pink "Super Woman" cape that lights up! hahaha I'm just silly I guess, but when I put that hat on the girls and I laughed and anytime there is a good laugh its good. I'm trying to buy one thing at a time so I can be in costume for the Moonlight Run in October. I bought this stuff at Six Flags. So, this may become a tradition. When we go to Six Flags we buy something to run in... haha :-D We will see ~ no promises!!
Oh! Great news! Kailah was walking all over Six Flags....NO PAIN!!! Man! I'm just believing she is healed and can run with Crown!! Jesus is King!!

“A large crowd followed and pressed around Him. And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind Him in the crowd and touched his cloak, because she thought, ‘If I just touch His clothes, I will be healed.’ Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering. At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from Him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, ‘Who touched my clothes?’ ‘You see the people crowding against you,’ His disciples answered, ‘and yet you can ask, “Who touched Me?”’ But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it. Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and knelt at His feet, and trembling with fear, told Him the whole truth. He said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering’” (Mark 5:25-34)."
You know, I'm just gonna say it. I don't know how bad her situation was but I'm in that situation now...for years. I hate it and it prevents me to do certain things every time because it conflicts with my siezure medication. I have to at times just stay home in a safe place. There is a history of having seizures when this happens.
Anyways, its stopped me for two days now and I'm taking time to press through the crowds (doubt) so I can go in peace and be healed. Jesus is King!
